We are fortunate indeed to have available to us again
this year such a fantastic venue to run the Eucharistic Convention from. There
were rave reviews about this facility from attendees last year and we envisage
the same will be true this time around. My wife beth has been voted back on
the Board of Westlake Girls for a further term and is influential in having
this facility made available to us again this year.
To get to the college from Auckland City you cross the Harbour Bridge exiting
that motorway at the NORTHCOTE turnoff (you will see the netball courts on your
left). Turn right into Northcote Rd and move into the left hand lane. Turn left
into Taharoto Rd (Smales Farm will be on your left and North Shore Hospital
will be on your right). Go straight ahead through the next intersection and
you will see Westlake Girls High School on your left. The next road on your
right is Forrest Hill Rd, turn into that road, travel up the hill a little and
you will see Westlake Boys High School to your left.
There is parking in the College grounds. Beth has arranged for either the Boys
or Girls school to get members of their sports teams or similar to look after
the parking as a fundraiser. This is necessary for us since we are using the
college grounds. Please do not begrudge a parking fee; we need to show decorum
in this new environment. Beth is also arranging catering for you during breaks
etc via the students; please support their initiatives also. An additional parking
facility will be in place this year just down the road at Westlake Girls High
School, 2 Wairau Rd (just down the bottom of the hill). There will be shuttle
busses rotating to take people from this car park to the auditorium. When you
are ready to go home the shuttle will be there to take you back to your car.
There are Hotels and Motels on the North Shore; you may check the internet to
find these. If you have stayed at accommodation near the old venue perhaps you
could keep that this year and have a look around to find something closer next
year. If you have no luck browsing the internet for accommodation options return
to this website as we intend to post a list as soon as convenient.
